Places for recreation and relaxation

The first sitting room, part of the original house with some of the traditional look retained, has a stove place for which logs are provided (a supply is in the rear porch)This used to be fuelled by peat but recent legislation prohibits the selling of peat for this puprose. It has comfortable leather chairs and good sized coffee table for drinks or games and a music system with an eclectic collection of CDs. This room gives access to the west room.
The west room has been, at one stage of Fairview's life, the local village shop. Access to it from the house was originally through what is now the bathroom. Though the shop has long since gone it was only in 2007/8 that this room was transformed into the comfortable sitting room it is now. This warm, bright and relaxing room has a TV with Freeview and a DVD player and if you want to read books about Shetland - geology, politics, wildlife and much more - then this is where to look. There is also a good selection of light reading as well as some DVDs. << Back - Explore the house | Next - cooking and eating>>
